The Canadian government have announced a new immigration pathway for artisans such as carpenters, welders, plumbers from Nigeria and other countries.
The Canadian immigration body known as Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced this on Tuesday in a statement stating that there is now provision for skilled workers in a specific field.
The IRCC Minister, Marc Miller said this new policy will foster development in the construction sector and also fight the shortage of skilled trade workers in the country.
The statement read:
"Canada's Express Entry (EE) system is now tailored to provide a streamlined and efficient pathway for individuals with expertise in critical fields.
These category-based selection rounds will continue throughout the year, alongside general invitation rounds, and more details will be announced in the coming weeks.
This round of category-based selection recognizes these skilled trades' workers as essential, and look forward to welcoming more of these talented individuals to Canada."
