Chelsea have made a transfer decision that saw them pull out of the race to sign midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Sporting CP.
The North London club appeared to be the frontrunner to acquire the young promising midfielder but a dramatic twist of events saw Paris Saints Germain overtake Chelsea in the pursuit of the 22-year-old Uruguayan player.
According to reports, both teams are willing to submit 51 million pounds release clause and made discussions with the player’s representative but personal terms were where the problem started to arise.
Ruben Amorim, the manager of Sporting CP, also acknowledged that it would be challenging to keep Ugarte on for another campaign.
Manuel Ugarte
Chelsea have agreed to Ugarte’s release clause after they persuaded him that he wanted to join the Pochettino revolution this summer.
To beat off rivals, the Londoners had offered what they thought was a fantastic contract.
According to insiders, PSG consistently offered Ugarte a higher wage than Chelsea during negotiations, but the Premier League was where he wanted to play.

Sporting must sell players to earn money after missing out on the Champions League for the upcoming season. As a result, Ugarte will depart amid strong interest from outside of Portugal.
Fabrizio Romano believes that PSG have gone back to the front of the queue for hiring the youngster, contrary to Chelsea’s hopes that they would be the ones to sign the South American.
Ugarte already verbally agreed to a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 champions, and he might now sign it at Parc des Princes.
The reason for this is that PSG made an offer that is even more valuable than Chelsea’s, and the Blues refused to get involved in a bidding war.
Chelsea finished in 12th position in the Premier League, 27 points behind fourth place, therefore they are unable to offer prospective new hires Champions League football for the upcoming season.
There will also be financial repercussions from the club’s catastrophic first full season under Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership.

Ugarte in action against Juventus
The midfielder has performed at his peak thus far in the season. The 22-year-old, who appeared in 47 games this season, has been Sporting’s most talented player. Nevertheless, he is league-less in terms of goals and assists.
Ugarte has over 91% of work rate. In addition, he has a dribbling success rate of 62.5 percent, which is very outstanding for a defensive midfielder, and he won more than half of his duels.
Before joining Centro Atletico Fenix, one of the second division’s most well-liked teams, Ugarte began his football career at a small club.
The midfielder’s development inside the organization was nothing short of remarkable, as he was given a chance to join the first team at the age of 15. His first game was against Danubio FC on December 4, 2016.
Ugarte and Sporting CP agreed to a five-year contract on August 9, 2021, for a sum of €6.5 million for half of his economic rights.
He made his club debut on August 14 during a 2-1 Primeira Liga victory away at Braga, taking Joo Palhinha’s place in the 92nd minute.
