Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has responded to the outrageous added time during the Premier League match against Brighton on Sunday, December 3.

Despite playing over half the game with a player down, Chelsea showed determination and strength to secure a 3-2 victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino expressed his satisfaction with the three points earned against a tough opponent but also noted some areas of concern from the match.

What happened?

Chelsea fought bravely with ten men after captain Conor Gallagher was sent off for a second yellow just before halftime.

Facundo Buonanotte pulled one back for the visitors in the 43rd minute and Gallagher's red card followed two minutes later to create a tense second half for Chelsea.

Despite this setback, the Blues were able to score a third goal to maintain their lead.

However, Brighton pressed hard for an equalizer, and the referee added around 15 minutes of additional time, leading Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino to accuse the referee of deliberately favoring Brighton.

In his post-match interview, the former Spurs manager said: "Why 14-15 minutes extra time? We are a young team. We need to leave this kind of experience with red cards. With time we're gonna improve and avoid this kind of situation. We have talent, we just need time. I’m sure we will get there."

The referee's decision to award a penalty against Chelsea in the 100th minute appeared unprofessional or another deliberate action in favour of the Seagulls.

Despite a lengthy VAR review, the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty after the ball hit Chelsea defender Levi Colwill in the face. It was only after VAR intervened that referee Craig Pawson reversed the penalty decision.

Pochettino showered praises on Enzo Fernandez

The Blues manager praised Fernandez for his contribution to Chelsea's victory against Brighton in his post-match interview.

Fernandez's performance, including his two Premier League goals and precise passing, played a crucial role in preventing the team from losing control.

Speaking about Fernandez’s goals, the former Tottenham coach added: “It is important that different players can score. For Enzo, it was his first and second goal in the Premier League. We are always talking about confidence, they must be building that confidence."

The former Tottenham coach also emphasized the significance of different players scoring and building confidence, particularly highlighting Fernandez's first and second goals in the Premier League.

“Players always need six months or one season to start to show their real quality, why is it going to be different at Chelsea? I am so happy that different players could score goals, to help the team.”
