According to Sky Sports, the UK government is expected to approve the Todd Boehly-led consortium's takeover of Chelsea within the next 24 hours.
This follows legal assurances that current owner Roman Abramovich will not profit from the sale of the Premier League club. Chelsea is expected to be sold for around £4.25 billion.
The proceeds of the sale are expected to be deposited into a government-controlled bank account.
The European Union has also approved Abramovich's sale, and because he has a Portuguese passport, the sale must be approved by the Portuguese authorities.
The agreement is expected to be signed on Tuesday.
The agreement ends the Russian's 19-year ownership of Chelsea, during which time the club won 21 trophies, including five Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues.
