Cssio Ramos pulled out a brilliant showing of quick-thinking during his team's 1-1 draw with Atletico Mineiro in the Brazilian Serie A on November 10, 2023.

Angel Romero had taken Corinthians ahead in the 23rd minute, with former Bayer Leverkusen forward leveling the affair in the 67th minute.

However, the most talked about incident in the encounter occurred in the 75th minute, with Atletico Mineiro being awarded a free-kick midway into the half of the Corinthians.

The ensuing attempt from the free-kick was aimed toward the goal, with Cassio appearing to be prepared to catch the ball, but his brainy self kicked into action just as the ball got in his direction.

He moved out of the way to allow the ball to go into the net, and some Atletico Mineiro players were even gesticulating that they had scored.

Referee Braulio da Silva Machado had a good glimpse of the action, and he saw that no player had a connection with the ball from the indirect free-kick other than the taker.

Cassio Ramos also noticed this and hence the reason for not even trying to save the ball, as there could be a possibility of him even putting his team in danger if he had tried to.

He might have not been able to gather the ball quite well and as such, if he parried the ball to an Atletico Mineiro player who had a good sight of the goal, his team could concede.

However, having left the ball, what would ensue afterward is a goal kick to Corinthians and not a goal as a goal cannot be scored directly from an indirect free-kick.

Cassio's impressive knowledge of the game came in handy for his team as even Corinthians manager Mano Menezes was captured in footage with his heart racing when the ball got into the net.

Mano had absolutely nothing to fret about as goalkeeper Cassio Ramos was in tune with the game.

The Brazilian shot-stopper has been at Corinthians since December 9, 2011, having joined the club on a free transfer.

He had a stint in Europe, playing for notable teams in the Netherlands, including; Sparta Rotterdam and PSV Eindhoven.

During his time in the Netherlands, Cassio Ramos won the Eredivisie with PSV Eindhoven and the Dutch Cup.

Since returning to Brazil with Corinthians, the 36-year-old has won several trophies, including; the Club World Cup in 2013, defeating Chelsea 1-0 to win the trophy.

Cassio has also won 1 Copa Libertadores and 2 Brazilian Serie A titles. He was also part of the Brazil squad that won the Copa America in 2019.

Cassio Ramos has made 549 appearances for Corinthians and recorded 226 clean sheets thus far.

Internationally, the former Gremio goalkeeper has made only 1 appearance for Brazil.
