Cristiano Ronaldo was rattled with the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) ranking as he missed out on the best 10 players in 2023.
Ronaldo's rating on high-profile football awards and rankings plummeted after he left Manchester United for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia following a fallout with the club due to his bombshell interview.

Since joining the Saudi outfit, Ronaldo has opened the floodgate for a massive influx of top European players into the Saudi Pro League.
Former Liverpool and Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane and former Barcelona and PSG winger Neymar are all plying their trade in Saudi Arabia, including the likes of Dean Henderson, Riyad Mahrez, Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, and several others.
Mane and Neymar admitted Cristiano Ronaldo played a big role in their move to Saudi Arabia.
Due to the class of players that thronged into Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Pro League has witnessed tremendous growth thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's influence.
However, while the credit has gone to the Portuguese for his role in the progress of club football in Saudi Arabia, his rating has plunged considerably on major football awards and rankings.
Ronaldo laughs off IFFHS ranking
According to IFFHS, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is the 2023 Player of the Year, edging out Mbappe and Messi, who placed second and third respectively, rearranging the Ballon d’Or podium.
Treble winner Rodri and Kopa Trophy winner Jude Bellingham were fourth and fifth. Kevin De Bruyne, Harry Kane, Bernardo Silva, Vinicius Jr, and Lautaro Martinez completed the rest of the top 10.
Ronaldo was left out of the top 10, with Silva the only Portuguese on the list, and this has sparked a mockery reaction from the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
He commented three laugh emojis and one facepalmed emoji under A Bola Portugal’s Instagram post, appearing to call the list a joke for excluding him.
The former Real Madrid star has scored 53 goals for club and country in 2023, the ‘highest’ of any player, and won the Arab Club Champions Cup with Al-Nassr.
