Cristiano Ronaldo is now the highest goalscorer in 2023 with 50 goals for Al Nassr. The Portuguese top striker and football legend scored his 50th goal of the year in Al Nassr's King's Cup quarterfinal win over rivals Al Shabab.

Ronaldo captained Al Nassr to a 5-2 victory over Al Shabab to cap his prolific run with the Saudi outfit.

It is the second time Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 50 goals in a single calendar year.
The Portugal forward first registered the feat in 2017 when he netted 53 times for Real Madrid.

Ronaldo played the 1,200th match of his professional career last Friday as he registered a goal and an assist in Al Nassr's 4-1 victory over Al Riyadh.

The former Manchester United forward has scored 869 goals in his career.

Despite his prolific run with Al Nassr, it appears Ronaldo may end up wrapping up his Al Nassr contract without winning the Saudi Pro League title. They are seven points away from League leaders Al Hilal. Also Nassr had a chance to chase down Al Hilal on the Saudi Pro League title race but stumbled to a 2-0 loss that further widen the gap.

However, it is just halfway into the Saudi Pro League season, and there are enough games for the nomenclature at the top of the table to change in Al Nassr's favor.

Ronaldo and Al Nassr will face off against Lionel Messi's Inter Miami in the Riyadh Season Cup on Feb. 1, 2024, it was confirmed on Monday.

Messi and Ronaldo have faced off 36 times through the years in matches for club and country, with Messi's teams winning 16, Ronaldo's teams winning 11 and nine ending as a draw. The Argentine forward has 22 goals and 11 assists in those matches; Ronaldo has 21 goals and one assist.

Al Nassr will host Steven Gerrad's Al Ettifaq in their next Saudi Pro League fixture on Dec. 22.

Cristiano Ronaldo is now topping the chart of highest goalscorers in top leagues in 2023. He has 6 goals more than Erling Haaland of Manchester City and 10 goals more than Harry Kane of Bayern Munich.
