Liverpool have defeated Leicester City at King Power Stadium to continue pressing for a top four finish in the Premier League.

After Manchester United steered themselves to relative safety in a 2-0 win over Wolves, Liverpool needed a win against Leicester City to keep tabs on the top four race.

A win against the Foxes will see the Reds complete their third double over Leicester City under Jurgen Klopp.

While Leicester City battled for survival from the relegation waters, Liverpool were eyeing for a top four finish with renewed vigor.

But they will face a uphill task against the Foxes at King Power Stadium, having lost their two games against the Foxes away from home.

Starting Lineup

Leicester City:
Daniel Iversen, Ricardo Pereira, Wout Faes, Jonny Evans, Timothy Castagne; Youri Tielemans, Wilfred Ndidi, Boubakary Soumare; James Maddison, Jamie Vardy, Harvey Barnes.

Liverpool: Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andrew Robertson; Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Curtis Jones; Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz.

Leicester City started on a good note. The Foxes bagged two early freekick and a corner kick as they heap pressure on the visitors.

Liverpool were more jittery than balanced and struggled to gain a foothold in the game early after the kickoff.

Maddison was once again the poster boy for the Foxes. His perfect delivery in the middle of the park gave the home side more leverage upfront but Vardy failed to live up to expectation when presented with the chance.

Leicester City played their hearts out and were making it a difficult game for the Reds going forward.

It was still barren between both sides with the half-hour mark crossed.

Liverpool finally emerged into the game after the 30th minute. The Reds grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and started dominating procession with clinical attacking attempts.

Leicester City pulled back into the defense after losing possession to the visitors but it was a futile attempt to stop the Reds.

In the 33rd minute, the Reds made their dominance count with Curtis Jones' deft one-touch strike from Mo Salah's cross.

Three minutes later, it was Jones again on the scoresheet to double the lead and bag his brace.

It was another beautiful goal from the Liverpool youngster as he lift Salah's pass beautifully pass Iversen into the net.

Jones' quickfire double put Leicester City in dire straits. The Foxes were at a loss as Liverpool continue to set the pace of the game.

The first half ended with the Reds grabbing a deserved 2-0 lead.

Nothing changed in the second half of the game. Liverpool continued to dominate proceedings going and were looking for a third.

With the lead, the Reds were just a point away from Manchester United although they have played a game more.

Liverpool were cruising to victory with their dominant display at Kings Power Stadium but they were vulnerable to stealthy and fast-paced counters by Leicester City.

The Reds still maintained their lead but it was getting more difficult breaking the Leicester barrier again to hit the third goal.

Liverpool continued to remain dangerous in the attack as the press for a third goal but Leicester City were able to hold off while hoping to pull a comeback.

With less than 20 minutes left to play, it was still a barren draw second half with Liverpool holding onto their first half lead.

In the 71st minute, Leicester City comeback hopes were drowned with Alexander-Arnold making it 3-0 for the Reds.

Liverpool ran out 3-0 winners after the final to close the gap on top four finish to 1 point.
