Daily Market Report – Nigerian Equities Close Lower

The Nigerian equities market closed lower today, marking another down day for investors. The NGX All-Share Index (NGXASI) fell by 0.56%, closing at 145,756.51 points compared to the previous 146,570.71 points.

Despite this decline, the Year-to-Date return remains strong at +41.26%.

Trading Activity:
• Volume traded dropped sharply by 81.85%, from 1.90 billion shares to 343.99 million shares.

• Market turnover also fell significantly by 87.57%, from ₦25.72 billion to ₦3.20 billion, across 7,941 deals.

• Market breadth stood at 1.53x, with 49 gainers against 32 losers. Trading volume increased for 62 companies but declined for 79.

Top Performing Stocks Over the Past 5 Days:
Several stocks recorded impressive gains over the last five trading sessions:
• Cornerstone Insurance (CORNERST) surged by 46.01% in five days, adding 9.95% today.

• Mutual Benefits Assurance (MBENEFIT) jumped 46.00% in five days, rising 9.77% today.

• AIICO Insurance (AIICO) gained 45.83% over five days, up 9.72% today.

• Greenwich ETF (GREENWETF) rose 45.25% in five days, adding 9.98% today.

• Other strong gainers included International Energy Insurance (INTENEGINS), Royal Exchange (ROYALEX), Universal Insurance (UNIVINSURE), Sovereign Trust Insurance (SOVRENINS), Prestige Assurance (PRESTIGE), and Guinea Insurance (GUINEAINS).

Biggest Losers Over the Past 5 Days:
On the flip side, some stocks faced notable declines:
• VSP Bond ETF (VSPBONDETF) fell sharply by 59.46% in five days.

• LivingTrust Mortgage Bank (LIVINGTRUST) lost 24.13%.

• The Initiate Plc (TIP) dropped 14.29% in five days, shedding 7.34% today.

• UAC of Nigeria (UACN) declined by 13.90% in five days, despite a small gain today.

• Other notable laggards included UPDC Real Estate Investment Trust (UPDCREIT), Legend Interior (LEGENDINT), Union Homes REIT (UHOMREIT), Austin Laz & Company (AUSTINLAZ), PZ Cussons (PZ), and Multiverse Mining (MULTIVERSE).

Today’s Top Gainers:
• Champion Breweries (CHAMPION) closed at ₦14.41, up 10.00%.

• Union Dicon Salt (UNIONDICON) closed at ₦9.90, up 10.00%.

• Universal Insurance (UNIVINSURE) closed at ₦1.10, up 10.00%.

• Guinness Nigeria (GUINNESS) closed at ₦155.75, up 9.99%.

• AXA Mansard (MANSARD) closed at ₦14.64, up 9.99%.

Today’s Top Losers:
• Abbey Building Society (ABBEYBDS) closed at ₦6.30, down 9.87%.

• Custodian and Allied (CUSTODIAN) closed at ₦40.45, down 8.48%.

• Deap Capital (DEAPCAP) closed at ₦1.35, down 7.53%.

• The Initiate Plc (TIP) closed at ₦12.00, down 7.34%.

• NPF Microfinance Bank (NPFMCRFBK) closed at ₦3.20, down 7.25%.
