Ex-footballer, Daniel Senda, who played for Wycombe Wanderers and Bristol Rovers, has been banned from football for 4 years due to sexual assault.
Senda sexually assaulted two women while on a coaching course, and he has been punished for his illicit actions.
The Football Association expressed via a statement that it was utterly sorry to the women, who were on an overseas course in June 2023.
Even though Daniel Senda had apologized for his actions, he insisted that he has no recollection of the incidents, which occurred in a bar.
Senda during the time the incident was said to have occurred, was Charlton Athletic's assistant manager.
The women who were assaulted did not report the matter to police and, because it occurred outside the United Kingdom, authorities in the UK couldn't handle the situation.
A spokesperson of the FA expressed a stance that many have made over time regarding women and them deserving to be involved in the game without the fear of any abuse whatsoever.
The FA spokesperson said: "Women deserve to be involved in professional football without the fear of any form of abuse.
“This was a shocking case, and we investigated the very serious allegations as soon as we were made aware of them."
An excerpt from the spokesperson statement also sternly expressed that Daniel Senda's illicit behavior will not be condoned.
It reads: “The behavior shown by Daniel Senda in June 2023 will not be tolerated.
“We will investigate all allegations of sexual assault in a football environment which are reported to us - usually working with the police, but in this case, the incidents happened overseas so were not within the jurisdiction of UK law enforcement.
“We hope that the very lengthy ban serves as a strong deterrent, and a clear signal that women in football will be supported and protected and offenders will be severely punished.”
Via written reasons shared on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, the FA's regulatory commission board indicated that whilst Senda was socializing in a bar with others taking the coaching course, he touched both women in an intimate area in distinct incidents.
The women shared the incidents to course leaders the subsequent day and Senda was told to leave the event.
Before flying to the United Kingdom, he asked to meet the women and apologize for the incident, which one complainant said she felt “railroaded” into attending.
The FA panel shared that the former Wycombe Wanderers player conducted “a criminal, sexual assault" on these women and they felt that his drunken state was what pushed him to the extent he went.
Via its written reasons, the FA panel added that despite the case being dealt with, both women still feel “a sense of guilt for reporting the incident.”
Additionally, the panel claimed the fear is down to how they will be seen by others, they wrote: “Finally, there is a fear of how they will be perceived by others, even though they have done nothing.
“The entire process left one woman feeling she had 'never been made to feel as bad in her entire career'.”
Daniel Senda was initially set to be slammed by the FA panel with a six-year ban, however, it was reduced to 4 years due to the Englishman quickly admitting his wrongdoing and offering an apology.
Senda played for several clubs in his career, including; Millwall, Torquay United, and Barnet FC.
He made 430 appearances throughout his playing career, scoring 10 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions.
The 42-year-old was assistant manager at Leyton Orient from July 2020 to June 2021. He departed Charlton Athletic in August 2023, following the dismissal of manager Dean Holden.
