DBanj encouraged me to shoot "The Return of Jenifa", Funke Akindele says

Talented Nigerian actress Funke Akindele reveals how Afrobeats singer DBanj inspired and encouraged her to shoot the Jenifa series after she stopped production. He had invited her and the Jenifa's cast to a club for a hangout where they had immense fun. After a while, he called her aside to have a 1-on-1 chat about her acting career and he mentioned how much he enjoyed watching Jenifa's series.

He then asked why she hadn't released a part 3 because the series would earn tons of money but she said it was over. To him, the movie was one of the best series that viewers wouldn't mind watching over and over again. So he advised her to go write another story to continue the series and supported her with some money.

That was how Funke Akindele went back to the drawing board to write "The Return of Jenifa" which became the favorite series of thousands of households.
