Former Chelsea, Wolves, and Atletico Madrid forward, Diego Costa has signed for Gremio, the 12th club of his career, after his recent spell with Wolves in the Premier League and Botafoga in Brazil.

The 35-year-old also had a stint with Atletico Mineiro before terminating the contract to return to the Premier League signing for Wolves. He made 25 appearances for the club, scoring one goal before leaving for Botafoga in Brazil's elite division. At Botafoga, Costa managed just 12 appearances for the club, scoring 3 goals.

He has now switched to Gremio - the 12th club of his career. As per Fabrizio Romano, Costa is contracted to Gremio on a short-term deal till the end of the season.

The La Liga and UEFA Super Cup winner with Atletico Madrid replaces Uruguayan legendary forward Luis Suarez, who terminated his deal with the Brazilian side to join MLS outfit Inter Miami and reunite with his old Barcelona pal Lionel Messi.

The golden era of Diego Costa's career ended at Chelsea in 2017. The legendary forward scored 52 Premier League goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea in his three-year stint with the club, winning 2 Premier League titles and the EFL Cup.

Before his heroic stint with the Blues, Costa's career peaked at Atletico Madrid from 2010 to 2014. He scored 43 La Liga goals for the Madrid outfit in 93 appearances, winning 2 La Liga titles, Copa del Rey, Europa League, and 3 UEFA Super Cups.

He has won both the La Liga and Premier League Player of the Month in his spells with the two elite leagues in Europe.

His career began to decline when he returned to Atletico Madrid in 2018 from Chelsea. In the last four years, Costa has played for different clubs on short-term contracts. His downward career trajectory since 2018 has also seen him become a temporary free agent with no contract.

It is more likely he will call time on his career after he runs out of his current contract with Gremio.
