Don Jazzy reveals how he used to sell akara with his mother, hoping to receive help from a Big Man.
Popular Nigerian record and music executive, Don Jazzy has revealed how he used to sell Akara with his mother with the hopes of receiving help from a Big man who comes to buy.
He recently shared this during an interview on the Zero Conditions podcast.
His real name is Michael Collins Ajereh but he is known popularly as Don Jazzy. He is the founder and Chief executive officer (CEO) of Mavin Records which has signed many popular singers today.
Don Jazzy shared that he remembers selling akara with his mother in Ajegunle. He had been hoping that someone would notice him and help him.
He shared that this experience of selling Akara shaped his life.
He also went ahead to say he doesn't believe that most people who say they suffered actually did suffer.
He shared that when he was helping his mother to sell Akara, he would pray that someone would notice him and give him money.
He shared that he remembers it like it was yesterday. He would sit next to his mother who was frying Akara. He says anythime a big man comes by to buy Akara in their Peugeot 504 or Mercedes 230 then, he would be wishing that this man would look at him and help him by giving him money or some sort.
He mentioned that now that he is successful, he came meet a person without helping the person in a way because of his experience or at least give back to the community in a way.
He says he has a problem with people meeting him and not getting impacted when when go.
