Don Jazzy reveals how he wanted to be like Daddy Showkey
Popular Nigerian music and record executive Don Jazzy has revealed that he wanted to be like Daddy Showkey while he was growing up.
Don Jazzy’s real name is Michael Collins Ajereh but he goes by Don Jazzy he is a music and record executive. He is the founder and Chief executive officer (CEO) of Mavin Records which has signed many popular Nigerian musicians like Rema and Ayra Starr.

He recently shared how Daddy Showkey, who is a well-known legendary musician, was his role model and he wanted to be like him while he was growing up. He shared that he grew up in Ajegunle, Lagos.
Daddy showkey is a musician who was very popular back in the 90s. His real name is John Asiemo but he is known as Daddy Showkey. He was known popularly for his type of music called ghetto.
Don Jazzy shared that it was both Daddy Showkey and Baba Fryo and some other Ajegunle musicians that they looked up to who inspired him to do music.
He also revealed how he had started his music career in the church. He says he began as an instrumentalist. This was because he couldn’t afford studio sessions as at that time.
He said church was the only place he could go and play instruments for free because studio sessions would cost a lot.
He shared this while speaking with Fisayo Fosudo on a recent episode of the Leaderboard podcast.
He says he wanted to blow and be like Daddy Showkey because he was very popular and you would hear his songs everywhere.
