Drug addict kills mother by strangling her in Ogun state
A man who is a drug addict has killed his mother just recently in Ogun state. This man strangled his mother to death. He has been identified as Samson Sikiru and he is 32 years old.
This incident happened on Sunday, in Itanrin, in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, Ogun State.
It was the younger brother of the suspect who alerted others when he found his mother dead at home. He had just returned from his night shift as a night guard when he saw his mother dead.
The neighbours then discovered that the suspect, samson was the culprit and he was then arrested. They then handed him over to the police in the state.
It was some sources who revealed that this suspect is a drug addict. They revealed he had rubbed away from home many years back and had only just returned.
Omotola Odutola who is the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ogun state has confirmed this incident. She revealed that the state command was aware of this incident.
She revealed that Samson is currently a neuropsychiatric patient.
She revealed that sometimes the family members of this man would have to tie him down with ropes so as to prevent him from hurting himself or any other person.
They said he stayed with his mother who he had come to visit for the Sallah celebrations.
The family was aware of his condition but were managing the situation. It was the mother who was managing the situation the best way she could until his incident happened.
No one is sure if there had been a provocation on the part of the mother to have caused such a reaction. A preliminary investigation which was carried out revealed that earlier that day, Samson had been tied up in the house and the he was able to lose himself and it was then he attacked his mother and killed her.
The PPRO revealed that there were marks of violence found around the neck of the deceased showing he strangled her to death.
They also saw some lacerations around her right leg.
The PPRO says that the suspect is still in police custody. She revealed that they haven't been able to get much from him because he hasn't answered any coherent question that he was asked.
