Men of the Department of State Services (DSS) tendered a search warrant to search the home and office of the suspended EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa.
Reports stated that different teams were sent to his home and office, and the search was conducted on the same day.
Recall that Bawa was indefinitely suspended by President Bola Tinubu on June 14 for "Weighty allegations of abuse of office leveled against him," and his position was handed over to Abdulkarim Chukkol.
Bawa is still in the custody of DSS, and some of his close associates in office were invited for questioning over "alleged mismanagement, misappropriation and diversion of proceeds of sold assets forfeited to the EFCC." That is in an attempt to unravel and dig deep into the investigation.
According to an anonymous source, DSS is yet to press charges against Bawa because investigations are still ongoing.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the Department of State Services (DSS) has obtained an ex parte order. That allows it to extend Bawa’s detention in their facility during their continued investigation.
