Edo Auto crash claims 11 lives, leaves 8 injured
11 people have died in an auto crash which occured in Edo State recently. 8 people have been injured in this crash.
The accident occurred around Ovia Bridge, Benin-Lagos Expressway. This happened yesterday, Thursday.
The accident occurred by 11am. The crash involved 2 vehicles, a Toyota Hiace 18-seater bus and a Dangote truck.
The truck driver was traveling to Beninbwhen he crashed into a bus. The bus had slowed down at a part of the road which was bad and then the truck ran into it.
Many passengers died on the spot while some others were rushed to the hospital Immediately. They had taken them to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital for treatment.
The accident was caused by overspeeding on the part of the truck. He ran into the bus and killed 11 people.
Paul Okpe who is the state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the crash.
He revealed the number of people who had died and those injured. He also mentioned that they had taken everyone, both dead and injured to the hospital.
He revealed that the truck had narrowly missed another car when it ran into the bus.
They have moved all 3 vehicles to the police station.
