The Edo State Commissioner of Police Muhammed Dankwara has issued a subtle warning to all denizens of Edo State that the use of fireworks and crackers is thereby banned during this festive season.
The CP stated in an interview that anyone caught with firecrackers or fireworks will be prosecuted alongside the sellers of the products.
He said, "The command wishes to inform the public, particularly marketers, buyers and users of pyrotechnics such as fireworks, firecrackers, popularly known as knock-out, and their likes that the ban on the use of these items is still in force."
This is to prevent the damage these said products can cause to the environment and humans as well. Apart from causing noise pollution, firecrackers can cause accidental fires and various injuries especially now that it's harmattan season.
