Retired Ajax and Netherland goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar has been evacuated from Intensive care, after painstakingly going through bleeding around his brain.
Van Der Sar was moved into a hospital during holiday in Croatia, prior to when he was transferred to a Dutch health care facility.
The 52-year-old shared a statement on Twitter expressing his joy and relishing his return to the round leather game.
He wrote: "I'm happy to share that I'm no longer in the intensive care unit.
"However, I'm still in the hospital. I hope to go home next week and take the next step in my recovery."

Van Der Sar hung up his boots in 2011, after departing Manchester United and he afterwards joined the board of Ajax in 2012.
In 2016, he became the Dutch side Chief Executive Officer and he spent nearly a decade in that role.
