Ekweremadu’s daughter breaks silence over parents conviction
The daughter of senator Ekweremadu and his wife, has finally spoken about her parents conviction.
Recall that Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice were found guilty of conspiring to exploit a young Nigerian Lagos street trader and bring him to London to take his kidney for their daughter.
The daughter, Sonia says that she understands why they have been convicted but she disagrees with it.
She says as their daughter she will always back them up so her perspective is Biased.
She mentioned all this during an interview with BBC.
She said she and her siblings were surprised with the development. She also revealed that she feels guilty because it was for her cause. She blamed herself for what happened.
Mr Ekweremadu was sentenced to 9 years and eight months in prison, they sentenced his wife to 4 years and 6 months. They also sentenced the doctor who was assisting.
Sonia suffers from Nephrotic Syndrome, and this is where the kidney does not function properly.
She also revealed that she wasn't involved in what happened and her parents had been handling everything.
