Emilio Nsue, the top goal scorer of AFCON 2023 has made shocking allegations about the Equatorial Guinea Football Association.
The player made these shocking revelations during an Instagram live session following his suspension from the body.
Nsue who scored 5 goals for Equatorial Guinea during the 2023 AFCON used the live session to express his grievances over the decision made by the Football Association to suspend him.
The Equatorial Guinea Federation suspended Emilio Nsue and Iban Salvador for alleged "gross indiscipline" during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire.
The Federation announced the removal of star players Emilio Nsue and Iban Salvador from the team, leading the outraged players to share their version of events in 'Africa Futbolera'.
Following this, the players spoke out, directly blaming the directors for internal conflicts and unfulfilled promises.
Nsue in particular, listed several alleged facts that have caused the squad to be against the Equatorial Guinea Federation.
He started by saying: "They have dropped me without explanation and they have invented an illegal internal regime. They have publicly humiliated me."
In the shocking revelation, the footballer accused the Football Association of corruption, theft, forgery, and neglecting the home-based players' growth project.
He also alleged that they were considering recruiting players from outside the country.
The interview, mostly in Portuguese, also saw Emilio Nsue claim that the Equatorial Guinea Football Association took one million euros from the funds received by the team at ACON 2023.
Nsue further criticized the Football Association of Equatorial Guinea, stating: “These corrupt individuals managing football in Equatorial Guinea took 1 million euros for themselves, leaving the national team in poor conditions."
"I received congratulations for my top scorer award from the Ivorian authorities, not from my own country. My country has been ungrateful to me.”
The striker further expressed his frustration with the national team's plan to bring in Brazilian players as part of an overhaul of the sporting project.
He criticized the decision, saying, "They want to change the sports project and bring in Brazilians. You are shameless, we are the tenth-best team on the African continent. They take money everywhere, they owe us money and they are stealing it."
He also spoke about the players having to pay for their equipment and the federation's failure to pay off debts with service providers, including a hotel.
He revealed: "Before the match against Nigeria, the players did not have any outfits ready. The equipment used in the national team is paid by the players and not the Federation."
"The FA threatened certain local players and took money from them, but I said no and this is unfair. They humiliated me and threw me out. The National team is above everything and everyone."
Until there are major changes within the federation, Emilio Nsue, who is famous for his time at Birmingham City and Middlesbrough, has stated that he will not consider returning to the national team.
