On his visit to Fund's Headquarters, the newly elected Governor met with the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono to commend their efforts in fostering learning in the universities.
He had earlier stated that improving quality education is a top concern of his administration.
That's because despite the number of graduates with good degrees in the country, the level of unemployment keeps increasing because they aren't skilled enough.
He has decided to promote skill acquisition as a necessity across all levels of education to lower the outrageous number of unemployed youths in the state.
The Governor made mention that he is looking forward to collaborating with TETFund to revitalise the quality of education in the state.
In his response, Sonny Echono supported the intention and attempt of the Governor to restore the quality of education in the state. He further stated that TETFund is already doing wonders in nine tertiary institutions by training teachers and building infrastructural facilities.
He also mentioned that the state's TETFund source of revenue which is the education tax has been increased to 3% under the newly endorsed Finance Act 2023.
