Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has fired warning to Manchester United players after Marcus Rashford saga.
Erik ten Hag has been known for his strong-hand approach in Manchester United dressing room. From Cristiano Ronaldo to Jadon Sancho, the Dutch showed no sign of doubling down on his rigorous disciplinary standards for Manchester United players.
He axed Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United as well as Jadon Sancho after fallouts with the two players.
In the case of Marcus Rashford, ten Hag seemed to have relaxed his sledgehammer as he let the player off the hook.
Rashford, who was supposed to join Manchester United training ahead of FA Cup round-four clash against Newport County, was seen in viral footage partying hard in a nightclub in Belfast England.
The next day, he missed training claiming to be ill, and was left out of the Newport County matchday squad. Rashford was certainly on a collision route with Erik ten Hag after footage showed his two days indulgent bender in Belfast.
When Erik ten Hag was asked about the saga, he admitted it was an internal issue. A day after, Rashford held showdown talks with Erik ten Hag and United issued a statement a few hours later that Rashford has owned up to his actions and the club have handled the matter internally.
Unlike his previous iron-hand approach on erring players, Erik ten Hag showed his soft side on Marcus Rashford's saga.
However, he has warned Man United players about what is expected of them as professional footballers.
Quoted by Fabrizio Romano, ten Hag said;
"First of all, the players at this level need to manage themselves, that is what you can demand from the player,'
'The player has to know what is good and not good. When you want to play top football, it demands a certain way of life - always.''
Asked if he needs to reinforce that message following Rash Ford's 12-hour tequila bender in Belfast, Ten Hag added: '
'No, come on. We are talking about top football players.
'I don't have to educate them anymore. When you are playing for Man United, they should know.
'In football, you need discipline and that is on the pitch but also off the pitch. Every professional knows what is required.'
