Erik ten Hag has publicly commented on Jadon Sancho's return to Borussia Dortmund, as the winger has joined the club on loan for the rest of the 2023/24 season.
This marks the first time the manager has discussed the transfer after his fallout with the England winger.
The 23-year-old joined Manchester United in a £73million transfer from Dortmund in July 2021 but has not featured for United since August 26 due to a fallout with manager Ten Hag.
Due to the conflict, Sancho has been training separately from the first team since September.
Meanwhile, the rift between Sancho and Ten Hag began when he was left out of the squad during a 3-1 loss to Arsenal in early September, with the manager citing Sancho's training performance as the reason for leaving the Englishman out of the team.
However, Sancho disputed this on social media, claiming he was being unfairly accused.
Sancho was expected to rejoin the United first team only if he apologized publicly to his manager, but he never did.
When asked if he would have made a different decision if he had received an apology, the United boss declined to revisit the issue, stating that they had previously discussed it.
Ten Hag, in a recent interview, told Sky Sports that there were ongoing issues from the start of Sancho's time at United, and it seems clear that his tenure at the club was not successful.
Ten Hag told Sky Sports: "He's now at Dortmund. After he was signed, one year before [Ten Hag arrived] there were issues. We had had issues all the way through."
"So you can make out that his stay at Manchester United so far has not been a success. So now he's gone back to Borussia Dortmund."
"I wish him the best of luck. We all hope he will do very well there and he will be successful."
Meanwhile, Ten Hag's comments contradict former United interim boss Ralf Rangnick's previous remarks about Sancho's attitude.
Rangnick had stated earlier that during his time at Old Trafford, Sancho's attitude was never in question and that he always played when he was healthy.
Rangnick told Sky Germany: “He had his best time in Dortmund and, when he was healthy, he always played for me. However, he wasn't as carefree as in Dortmund.
“But that was also due to the overall situation. When he was fit, he was set and did well under me. He no longer had a chance in Manchester. He now has to get back into a rhythm and really into shape in Dortmund. From his point of view, the change makes perfect sense.
“In the six months I had him, there wasn't a single discipline problem. On the contrary. He is a calm and pleasant guy.”
Erik ten Hag is struggling to bring out the best in his Manchester United team this season as they occupied the 7th place with 32 points in the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho has wasted no time in making an impact at Dortmund after leaving United, showing that perhaps the issue isn't with the player but with United's manager.
After spending two and a half challenging years at Manchester United, Sancho returned to Dortmund on loan this month.
During his time at Manchester United, he scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 82 appearances.
At Dortmund, where his performance of 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games initially caught the eye of Manchester United, Sancho wasted no time in making an impact in his debut.
He came off the bench and set up a crucial goal for Marco Reus in their 3-0 win against Darmstadt.
