Manchester United may be sweating with another injury blow for Luke Shaw.

The England right-back, who has missed 20 matches for Manchester this season, picked up an injury in Manchester United's Premier League win over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

The Red Devils kept their top-four hopes alive with a quick double from Rasmus Hojlund which proved decisive in securing victory over the Hatters.

However, the victory came at a cost with Luke Shaw prematurely subbed off in the game after he appeared to pick up an injury.

Shaw was subbed off when United were still leading 2-1 with Victor Lindelof coming on in his place. Since returning from his lengthy injury layoff, it was the second time Erik ten Hag has subbed him off the field in the first half.

In the Premier League clash against Aston Villa, the Dutch took off Shaw before the break and brought on his regular backup Victor Lindelof.

However, he allayed fears of an apparent injury when he revealed in post-match press conference that Shaw was subbed off as a precautionary measure to protect his fitness, not because he was injured.

In the Luton match, it appears the England defender was subbed off again in the first half because of an injury not as a precaution.

Speaking after the match, ten Hag confirmed Shaw was injured and had to be subbed off. He, however, could not say exactly the nature of the injury.

“Not only a stunt. I can't say... I can confirm tests will follow to see what happens”.

“It's clear that when you go out, it's not is not good”.

Since returning from his lengthy injury layoff, Luke Shaw has been struggling with fitness issues in what has been a huge concern for United fans.

The recent blow will deepen the club's injury crisis at the defense with the likes of Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez still sidelined.

Some United fans have questioned the decision of Erik ten Hag to start the player against Luton when the club could not determine his state of fitness.

All fingers are crossed now in anticipation of the outcome of the test with hopes it will not be another lengthy injury layoff for the player.
