Erling Haaland has equaled the goals record of Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero in the UEFA Champions League.

Haaland, who scored the final goal of the Cityzens, three minutes into stoppage time of their 3-1 win over Copenhagen, leveled the number of goals that Aguero scored in the Champions League.

Erling Haaland has been swashbuckling since joining Manchester City, scoring goals with reckless abandon and helping the club win the treble - UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and the Premier League - last season.

The 23-year-old's goal against Copenhagen meant that the Norwegian poacher has netted 41 goals in 37 Champions League matches.

These were the same amount of goals that Aguero netted in the UEFA Champions League during his playing days.

Haaland joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund on July 1, 2022, for a fee of €60 million.

Erling Haaland has scored a staggering 86 goals and provided 23 assists in 89 appearances for the Cityzens across all competitions.

He is the joint-top scorer in the UEFA Champions League this campaign with 6 goals, an equal number of goals as Bayern Munich's Harry Kane and Paris Saint Germain's Kylian Mbappe.

The former Red Bull Salzburg player is looking at breaking many records at Manchester City, including becoming the all-time top scorer of the English club, although that remains a long-term target.

Sergio Aguero is currently the all-time top scorer for the Cityzens, with 260 goals in 390 appearances across all competitions.

Definitely, if this record is to be broken by Haaland, he will have to remain at Manchester City for a little above half of a decade years and continue his scoring act without any pause whatsoever.

Erling Haaland's future certainly remains uncertain, given reports in recent seasons that he is a target of Real Madrid.

The allure of playing for Los Blancos could be too attractive to deny, with the Spanish club being a team that many players want to play for.

Despite leading the misses chart this campaign, Haaland remains a potent forward who is admired by many of the top teams across Europe.

Erling Haaland has missed a shocking 26 golden opportunities this campaign, including one that came in the Manchester Derby on March 3, 2024.

The ex-Molde man had only the goal in front of him late on in the opening half against Manchester United, but a mishit resulted in the ball being ballooned over the bar.

Haaland has scored 29 goals and provided 6 assists in 32 appearances for the Cityzens this campaign.

Meanwhile, Manchester City face rivals and title chasers Liverpool on Sunday, March 10, 2024, and Erling Haaland will be hoping to power his side to victory.

A win for either of the two teams could tell where the Premier League title could be headed, with the Cityzens aiming for a 4th consecutive unprecedented league title.

Jurgen Klopp is also hoping to bow out of Anfield with the Premier League title, having revealed in January 2024 that he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
