Everton were docked 10 points for breaching Premier League profit and sustainability rules after they recorded a net loss of £44.7m in 2021/22 season.

The point deduction has seen the Sean Dyche-led team drop from 14th on the table to 19th and will have to fight harder to beat the drop.

Against assumptions Everton players will be broken by the deduction, Calvert-Lewin insists the team's spirit is not broken and they are ready to take on their next Premier League opponents Manchester United with grit and determination.

“Given the circumstances I’ve sensed a lot of unity and togetherness.

“We were off on the international break when the news broke, but coming back in this week I don’t feel like it’s fazed us players.

“We know, as a group, we can’t affect that. All we can affect is what’s in front of us, and that’s the game on Sunday, so we’re looking forward to that.”

Who is Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is an English professional footballer playing for Everton in the Premier League.

Dominic, 26, was born in Sheffield, England and started his career with a hometown club Sheffield United in 2005 at the age of 8.

Dominic played for nine years for Sheffield United youth before making his first senior club appearance for the club in 2014. He struggled for a regular spot in the club's lineup and was loaned to StalyBridge Celtic after his break-out into Sheffield United first team.

Before joining StalyBridge Celtic on loan, DCL made 11 appearances for Sheffield United and did not find the back of the net.

At StalyBridge Celtic, the English striker found his goalscoring boots. He scored 6 goals in 5 appearances for the club.

Despite a promising and impressive loan spell, Dominic could not break to Sheffield United starting lineup on return and was again loaned to Northampton in 2015. He made 20 appearances for the club, scoring 5 goals.

In 2016, Dominic attracted the attention of Everton and was signed by the club for £1.5m.

He has made 190 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 20 goals.
