The FA Cup 4th round replays delivered fireworks for some, heartbreak for others, and utter delight to those who progressed into the semi-final.

Aston Villa 1-3 Chelsea

It was a goal galore at Villa Park, with Chelsea coming out victorious in regulation time, courtesy of goals from Conor Gallagher, Nicolas Jackson, and Enzo Fernandez.

Unai Emery's side got their consolation goal through Moussa Diaby late on in the game, as his attempt passed through several bodies before ending in the back of the net.

Gallagher's goal in the 11th minute was sublime, with the Englishman thumping the ball into the top-left corner with precision before Emiliano Martinez could react to save his side.

Jackson doubled Mauricio Pochettino's side's lead 11 minutes later, with an amazing header, following a cross from the right flank by Malo Gusto.

The concluding goal in the encounter as aforementioned was netted by Enzo, with the Argentine curling a brilliant free-kick into the top-left corner, with Villa's goalie Martinez, hapless and unable to save the brilliant effort.

Chelsea secured a comfortable victory over the Villans and they have progressed into the 5th Round, where they will face Leeds United.

The West London club and Aston Villa had initially played a 1-1 draw in their first meeting in the 2023/24 FA Cup, which necessitated this replay.

The Blues have their sights on silverware this campaign via the Carabao Cup and they face Liverpool in the final on February 25, 2024.

The FA Cup also provides Mauricio Pochettino's side another opportunity to fight for a trophy this term, given their dismal showing in the Premier League thus far this season.

Despite losing to Aston Villa in the league game involving both sides this season, Chelsea exuded brilliance and they rightly came away from Villa Park with a creditable victory.

Nottingham Forest 1-1 Bristol City, Penalties (5-3)

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest also did the business in their FA Cup 4th round replay against Bristol City.

Both teams played out a 0-0 draw in their first meeting and a replay was needed to decide the winner.

The Tricky Trees showed guts in the face of adversity and they did the job during the shootout, confidently defeating Bristol City 5-3.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side were amazing during the penalty session, as they converted all their penalties, with Nigeria's Taiwo Awoniyi scoring the last spot kick to decide the affair.

Bristol City's Samuel Bell missed during the shootout and that cost his team a place in the next round.

Nottingham Forest host Manchester United in their 5th Round FA Cup fixture, and they will be hoping to reprise the sublime showing they put up against the Red Devils in December 2024.

The Tricky Trees secured a 2-1 league win over Erik Ten Hag's side and they will be boiled by that impressive outing.
