Fake LASTMA officer sentenced to two years
A Court sitting on Monday, March 27, 2023 has sentenced a fake LASTMA officer who was arrested recently to 2 years in jail.
It was the Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi that adequate this sentence.
Recall recently, this kan who was a fake Lagos State Traffic Management Authority Officer was arrested.
The man has been identified to be Omotutu Bamidele and he has been sentenced to 2- years in jail.
This man was arrested for extorting money from motorists in Lagos state. He had earlier confessed how much he makes from extorting people while impersonating LASTMA officers.
This man was arraigned on a 2 count charge and these were for impersonating LASTMA officers and obtaining money through fraudulent means.
It was Mr Adebayo Taofiq who is the director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA who released this press statement of the sentence.
He mentioned that the magistrate sentenced the convicted man to jail without the option of fine and this was because of the offences he had commited. He man had pleaded guilty to the 2- count charges that had been levelled against him.
Mr Bolaji Oreagba who is the General manager of LASTMA has said that this judgement is a food development as it would serve as warning to others who are engaging in this Criminal act of extortion.
He has also said that the Monitoring and Surveillance Unit of the agency would continue to look for others who are disturbing the society.
