Family and inlaws killed by Generator fumes in Anambra state


A family consisting of a couple and their two children alongside their in-laws have been killed by generator fumes recently.
This incident occurred in Anambra state. This family and their inlaws died from inhalation of generator fumes in their home.

It was the Anambra State Police Command who confirmed the news of their death.
This happened at their residence in Nkwele Ezunaka, Onitsha, Anambra State.

The victims include a man, his wife, two children, the mother-in-law and an apprentice. They inhaled the generator fumes and died. This was on Wednesday.
This man’s wife had just delivered a baby and this man decided to surprise her with a gift.

They then moved into their new house. It was only just their first night in that house when this sad incident occurred.
Only the newborn baby who was 4 days old survived the incident.

It was a friend who had raised the alarm. This friend was supposed to join them in the celebration the night before but couldn't make it. He then went the following day and realized the doors were locked and the generator was still running.

He knocked several times but there was no response so he raised the alarm. He called on the neighbours who came to assist and They broke down the doors.

They found the lifeless bodies of the man, mother-in-law, apprentice and one of the daughters. The baby survived this incident.
The wife and another daughter were still unconscious so they rushed them to the hospital immediately. All efforts to save them failed and the doctors pronounced them dead.

The Anambra State Police Command's spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, has has confirmed this incident.
He revealed that an investigation is still ongoing and will revale further details later.
