FCCPC raids Abuja Chinese Supermarket over alleged ban on Nigerians
The Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has raided the Chinese supermarket in Abuja that allegedly banned Nigerian citizens from shopping at the mall. The consumer protection body took this action after Abuja residents raised an alarm about how the Chinese supermarket disabled Nigerian citizens from shopping at the mall. The mall was said to be strictly for Chinese citizens and a few Nigerians living within the vicinity of the Chinese Supermarket.
This issue went viral on social media as citizens found the ban enforced on Nigerians disturbing. Residents in Abuja felt it was all shades of wrong for Nigerians to be banned from shopping from a particular mall on their soil. So, they raised an alarm for the right authorities to take up the matter. Now, FCCPC has visited the shopping mall to investigate the complaints.
