Popular Nigerian Businessman Femi Otedola has revealed how he almost took his own life some years back. This was due to a huge financial loss on his part.
Femi is a billionaire businessman in Nigeria. He is the present executive chairman of Geregu Power PLC. He used to be the chairman of the popular Forte Oil PLC. He is also the founder of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd alongside some other business.
The billionaire is 60 years old and has 4 children who are Tolani, Temi, Florence also known as DJ Cuppy and Fewa Otedola.
He recently shared how he wanted to commit suicide and this was in 2008.
He revealed that suicidal thoughts came to his mind after he lost a sum of $480 million in the diesel market. This was a huge financial loss for him and it created all sorts of thoughts in his mind.
He shared all these recently while speaking at his Akin Akinfemiwa who is his business partner's, 50th birthday celebration. This event took place in London.
He revealed that this man had helped him through the depressive stage that he has been in 2008.
He shared that their relationship is what he would call destiny prevails.
He revealed that they met through a friend who worked in Oando in 2005.
Akin had come to his assistance when he couldn't find capable oil trader after he set up his training company in London Fine Shade Energy. He called Akins boss and Akin came to see him and he offered him a job.
He shared that his empire which he built then ollapsed and it was then depression and the suicidal thoughts set in.
He revealed he then reconsidered cush thoughts after he thought about his family Nana, his wife and the children.
He said he was able to overcome the problem and this was after sacking himself and making Akin the CEO of the office in London.
He shared that he gave him 1% of the business and later made him the CEO of Zenon Oil before making him the CEO of African Petroleum.
He revealed that Akin really changed this for better.
