Fence collapses on Lagos building, traps two children inside.
A search for 2 children who were trapped inside the rubble in a building collapse has begun. This occured when a fence collapsed into a building in Lagos State.
First Emergency responders were there to search for these children beneath the rubble. These two children have not been identified but are siblings.
They reside in Ishawo, Ikorodu area of Lagos State. A fence had collapsed into their home in their room and this was while heavy rain fell in Lagos on Saturday.
The rain was so heavy that day and lasted for hours, running from morning till afternoon. This was what led to the collapse of the fence of another building in their own room.
The rubble buried the siblings and the responders in the area mobilised themselves and begun searching for them to rescue them.
These responders include the residents of that area. They were digging through the rubble to locate the children.
When the incident occurred and the search began, they were unable to reach the parents of the children.
They contacted the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, (LASEMA) and also the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service to come to their aid through distress calls and were waiting on them to assist.
They were unable to reach the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA who is Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu at the time that this incident occurred.
More details to be shared later one.
