The Federal Government bans scenes of money rituals, crime, smoking, and other related social vices in Nollywood movies.
This was announced on Wednesday at the National Stakeholders meeting tagged 'Smoke-Free Nollywood' organized by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB). The Board's Executive Director, Shaibu Husseini announced that the Minister of Arts & Culture, Hannatu Musawa, has approved the regulation.
Prohibition of Money Ritual, Ritual Killing, Tobacco, Tobacco Products, Nicotine Product Promotion, and Glamorisation Display in Movies, Musical Videos and Skits Regulations 2024. Husseini explained that the law was designed to sanitize the movie industry and curb the negative impacts of these vices on young people. He also mentioned that the board made plans to organize enlightenment programs and campaigns in schools, universities, organizations, and communities.
