In a statement released by Abdulhafiz Toriola, the permanent secretary at Lagos Ministry of Transportation, he revealed the new developments of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
It stated that FG has imposed #1000 annual fee on all Nigerian motorists for Proof of Ownership Certificate Verification.
Toriola also said that the recent development is in line with "compliance to legal requirements fundamental to transparency, security, and accountability within the transportation network."
He further stated that the certificate will represent each vehicle's legal owner after the completion of the necessary legal procedures to acquire it.
The information contained in the proof of ownership certification would include:
1. Vehicle’s registration details, such as license number plate2. Vehicle's model
3. Year of manufacture
4. Owner's name and address
He concluded his statement by mentioning that the decision to charge motorists annually for the issuance of POC was made by the Joint Tax Board committee.
