The Federal Government raises concerns over the rising cost of cement as it jumps to N15,000 from N6,000 in less than one week.

The persistent inflation is not only affecting the food items but also penetrates deep into other commodities like cement. A bag of cement which was once sold for less than N1000 in the past 5 years has increased from N6000 to an exorbitant rate of N15,000.

The Minister of Works and Housing, David Umahi has summoned all manufacturers of cement including Dangote Plc, BUA Plc, and Lafarge Plc to a meeting on Monday 19th February 2024, asking them to take immediate action to control the market prices.
