The Federal Government of Nigeria has revoked the visa, work permit and residence of this British businessman, Mr Roger brown who is based in Nigeria.

Mr Roger brown is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Seplat Energy Plc which is based in Nigeria. He joined tha company in 2013 as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and later on promoted promoted the office of CEO in November 2019 though it was in 2020 he resumed work effectively in that post.

The reason behind this is alleged racism on his part, discrimination on Nigerian employees and favouritism towards the foreign workers.

An investigation was also carried out which revealed records stating that Mr Roger had aCombined Expatriate Residence Permit and Aliens Card (CERPAC) that was not based on validly issued Expatriate Quota approved by the Ministry of Interior resulting to the violation of relevant Immigration Laws and Regulations in his possession.

All these led to a conclusion that Mr Roger Brown has to leave. It was the Minister qho realised that his stay in Nigeria should come to an end.

A March 3 2023 letter written by the minister of internal affairs to the board chairman of Seplat Energy Plc contains the revocation of his visa and Permit. It was obtained at the Federal High Court Lagos.

They titled the letter , “Withdrawal of Work Permit, CERPAC, Visa/Residence Permit of Mr. Roger Thompson Brown – CEO, SEPLAT Energy Plc”.

The content of letter reads that the Ministry received a petition from the Solicitor to the stakeholders and concerned employees of Seplat Energy Plc and they has accused Mr Rogers, the CEO of various allegations and these included racism, favouritism of foreign employees, discrimination against Nigerian employees.

Several witnesses had given testimonies to support these allegations against Mr Roger.

It also stated that 2 invitations were sent to him which he declined saying he wasn't available despite being in Abuja at the time.

It was from here the Ministry withdrew the work permit CERPAC, residence permit, visa and every other document which gave Mr Roger brown authorisation to enter Nigeria.

We still await updates of the outcome of this process.
