The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared its readiness to finance education in the country by allocating 25% of the national budget to the education sector. This is in line with the FG's plans to align the Nigerian educational system to meet global standards and improve the quality of learning.

The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, disclosed this on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, during a press briefing while opening a 2 day National Conference on Equal Opportunity on Access to Tertiary Education in Nigeria organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Equal Opportunity Group to state the ministry’s preparations for the 2023 World Teachers Day Minister of Education.

The Minister also asked security agencies to put more effort into strengthening security in schools, especially those in vulnerable areas.

Mamman also stated that Nigeria’s plan to have a sustainable education system is a reality, owning that the FG is rolling out plans to enforce policies that will boost inclusivity, which will ensure that all Nigerian children attain the level of education they desire.

The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, also expressed his pain, saying that some parents of people living with disabilities who interfere in the choice of their children’s courses said the board was poised to change the narrative.
