Fire destroys shops in kano market
Fire destroyed many shops in kano market today, March 13, 2023.
The Kano State Fire Service have confirmed this news.
The incident happened at Singer Market in Kano State.
Singer Market is one of the largest and most popular markets in Kano. This Market which was razed by fire is located at Ibrahim Taiwo Road in Kano State.
The cause of the firenis still unknown for now. The fire broke out in the early hours of today and burnt down many shops.
Many traders whose shops were burnt have begun to count their losses. Goods worht millions of naira were destroyed.
Sadly, this isn't the first nor the second fire in Nigeria this month.
Mr saminu Abdullahi who is the Public Relations Officer of the Fire Service, has given a statement regarding this incident.
He mentioned that the fire started around 2am this morning.
A distress call was placed to them at 2:18am from a man. This man had reported the incident at the market.
As soon as they received the information, they sprang into action and dispatched some fire vehicles and fire men to the market where the fire had broken out.
Most of the temporary shops were burnt completely by the fire.
They firefighters who were aided by marketers were able to control the fire and put it off.
He also mentioned that they have not been able to confirm the exact number of shops burnt down.
From his statement, we got to know tgat they eventually were able to put off the fire by 8am which was hours after the fire started.
