Fire outbreak at Lagos WAEC office
Reports state that a fire outbreak ensued at the WAEC office in Lagos early in the morning on Wednesday 26th of October, 2022. This Lagos office is the headquarters office in Nigeria of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Videos of the fire outbreak spread on social media and sources around indeed witnessed the fire that morning.
The fire had broken out around the middle section of the building and some parts of it were affected by the fire. While this happened, many ran for safety while some staff who were trapped in the high-rise building were seen requesting for help.
The incident took place early in the morning and some of the workers resumed when the fire broke out and no one could ascertain the cause of the outbreak.
Rescue operations began and the fire was put out before too much damage was done. The evacuation process followed as well as everything was out under control.
The acting Head of the Public Affairs Unit of WAEC, Moyosola Adesina, reacted to the fire incident. She said the situation was under control.
Mrs Adesina mentioned that no one was hurt and that everyone in the building was successfully evacuated by fire fighters.
She also mentioned that all important records were not affected by the fire as they were all intact after the fire was put out.
