Five men burnt to death in Onitsha for attempting to steal tricycle
Five men have reportedly been burnt to death in Onitsha today. Their crime was attempting to steal a tricycle and dispose of the tricycle operator.
They made this attempt in broad daylight but luck wasn't on their side as they were caught.
Reports says that this happened at old Nkpor road, which is close to the headquarters of People’s Club, in Onitsha.
Jungle justice was served as people gathered around to deal with these men by burning them. They refused to call the police as some people had tried to advise.
Sources state that they stripped the men unclad and beat them up. As they did this some people brought fuel and tyres and put them on these men and set them on fire.
It was a gory sight as people just watched and did nothing while those men were being burnt.
CP Echeng, who is the state police commissioner, has admonished the people not to resort to jungle justice.
He advised that they should report such people to the police who will handle the case.
