Former Bayern Munich youngster, Kimberly Ezekwem has joined SC Paderborn 07, a team in the German 2. Bundesliga on a loan deal.

Paderborn recently announced the temporary loan acquisition of Kimberly Ezekwem on their official website today, June 16.

Ezekwem is a former player from Bayern Munich’s youth team and has Nigerian lineage.

In 2018, the 21-year-old player transferred from FC Bayern Munich to Freiburg U19s. Since then, he has progressed through the ranks and has become a crucial member of the U23 team for the Breisgau Brazilian.

Ever since Ezekwem joined the German side, he has been performing exceptionally well.

In the 2020-2021 season, he played a crucial role as a member of the Freiburg reserve team that emerged victorious in the Regionalliga Südwest.

He managed to provide fourteen assists in thirty-seven appearances, showcasing his influence on the team.

The 21 years old Ezekwem who recently wore the number 24 Jersey while playing for SC Freiburg reserve team played a total of 39 matches during his stint at the German club.

Following the signing of Ezekwem, Benjamin Weber, the Managing Director of Sports at Paderborn, stated on the club’s official website that Kimberly possesses excellent footballing abilities that will enable him propel the team forward.

According to him, the 21-year-old of Nigerian descent can play on the left as part of a back three or as a left winger.

He also added that his skills are a perfect fit for the game system of the club.


Benjamin Weber said: “Kimberly has very good footballing qualities that he can use to drive the game forward. He can be used on the left in a back three or on the left wing.”

“With his skills, he fits in perfectly with our game system.”

Paderborn recently signed Ezekwem as their fifth new player for the 2023-2024 season, following the signings of David Kinsombi, Mattes Hansen, Laurin Curda, and Antonio Grimaldi.
