Former Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick, who worked with Jadon Sancho during his time at United has spoken honestly about the young player in a recent interview.

In the past four months, Sancho has been tagged as a bad egg in United's team and was labeled an indisciplined player.

However, one of his former coaches at Manchester United thinks otherwise.

Rangnick made it clear that he believes Sancho has been unfairly labeled as indisciplined and that the situation at United was not entirely the player's fault.

What happened?

Jadon Sancho and United manager Erik ten Hag were involved in a heated contention prompting the Dutch boss to publicly criticize the player's work ethic.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag's accusation provoked the player to retaliate and accuse the coach of playing his favorites.

The 23-year-old had joined the Red Devils for a substantial fee of £73 million in July 2021 but has not played for the club since August 26 due to a falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.

Sancho's relationship with Ten Hag worsened when he was left out of the squad for a defeat at Arsenal, with the United manager saying it was due to his performance in training.

As a result, the decision was made to remove the player from the senior squad until an apology was made.

However, Sancho disputed this on social media, saying he was being unfairly targeted and refused to apologize.

Ever since the fallout, the England star has been training separately from the first team since September.

Ultimately, the 23-year-old winger was loaned back to Borussia Dortmund, his former club.

Manchester United and England winger Sancho has rejoined Borussia Dortmund on loan for the remainder of the current season.

However, some are now questioning Sancho's attitude following his exit from Old Trafford as a result of the incident that took place between him and Ten Hag.

Meanwhile, former United boss Rangnick has come out to defend the England player.

During his tenure as interim boss at Old Trafford, Rangnick made it clear that Sancho's attitude was never a concern for him.

After taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November 2021, the German tactician managed the team for six months.

In a recent interview with Sky Germany, Rangnick suggested that the issue with Sancho's performance may have been related to the coaching style of Ten Hag.

The German tactician mentioned that Sancho performed well at Dortmund and always played when healthy, but seemed to lack the same carefree attitude while at United.

Rangnick said: “He had his best time in Dortmund and, when he was healthy, he always played for me. However, he wasn't as carefree as in Dortmund."

“But that was also due to the overall situation. When he was fit, he was set and did well under me. He no longer had a chance in Manchester. He now has to get back into a rhythm and really into shape in Dortmund. From his point of view, the change makes perfect sense."

“In the six months I had him, there wasn't a single discipline problem. On the contrary. He is a calm and pleasant guy.”

Sancho was not the only player to have discipline issues with the Dutch boss.

Five-time Ballon d'Or holder Cristiano Ronaldo left the club to join the Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr after clashing with the former Ajax manager.

In an explosive interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, the Portuguese legendary forward stated that he has no respect for the manager.

Manchester United made a significant investment in the 23-year-old in 2021, shelling out £73 million for his signature.

However, the club will only recoup a fraction of that amount, as they have agreed to a loan deal with Dortmund that will see them receive just £3.4 million in loan fees.

Additionally, United will also be responsible for covering part of the player's salary while he is on loan in Germany.

This, however, raises questions about the financial wisdom of the original investment and the subsequent loan deal.
