Four men sentenced to death by hanging in Lagos

Four men have been sentenced to death by hanging during a Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja.

This was on the charges of armed robbery and the kidnapping of Mrs Gloria Emole. Sources say this woman is the younger sister to Chief Ebuka Okafor who is the Chairman and Managing Director of Vixa Pharmaceutical Ltd.

These men identified as Ifeanyi Maduaka, Victor Chukwunonso, Obinna Nwankwo, and Richard Nwabueze, were found guilty of these crimes by the judge.

They were said to have committed the act of kidnapping on the 19th of November 2012 at about 8.30am.

This was when the victim was about to leave her house in Ogudu Government Reserved Area, Lagos.

They kidnapped her, blindfolded, threw her inside the booth of the car, and drove her to an unknown area in Ikorodu.

She was eventually released but it was after her husband had paid a sum of $70,000 as ransom. She was released on the 22nd of November in 2012.

They had told her husband where to drop the money.

They were arraigned on a three count charge and this was bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery and kidnapping. This was by Lagos State on the 13th of July 2013. They were detained in police custody.

The defendants were sentenced to 10 years for the first count which was for conspiracy, death by hanging for the second count of armed robbery and then 21 years of imprisonment for kidnapping.
