France invests €600,000 to boost French language in Nigeria


France has invested a sum of €600,000 to boost the French language in Nigeria. They revealed that they did this so has to make French a language of communication in Nigeria.

These projects which will facilitate the promotion of French language for communication in Nigeria has been embarked on by the Embassy of France in Nigeria.

These projects will facilitate this language both in secondary schools and the public space in the country.

It was the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Emmanuella Blatmann who revealed this recently.

She had mentioned this during the launch of the Solidarity Funds for Innovative Projects (FSPI in French), that was held in Abuja.

She said this project is to strengthen French teachers in Nigeria and this will be through a special fund which is known as the uja.

They aim at supporting the training of secondary school teachers in Nigeria and also create a network of media platforms using the French language.

She revealed that this project will ensure ease in deploying the programme in 50 schools in five states.

These are states in which local partners have shown their interest to intensify educational cooperation actions and they are in Oyo, Enugu, Lagos, Abuja and Plateau.

She revealed that the project has the slogan “À toi le micro, Naija” (the mic is yours, Naija).

She added that these schools will benefit directly from a pilot initiative that involves training teachers in France and in Nigeria, and also the purchase of books and computer equipment
