Fresh attack in Benue leads to death of 3 persons


A recent attack in Benue state has lead to the death of 3 persons. This 3 people were reportedly killed by some suspected gunmen in the state. These gunmen are suspected to be some herdsmen in Imatom village which is located in Logo local government area in Benue State.

The tragic incident occured on Saturday, October 14, 2023. It was a leader in the community, whose name is Anawa Joseph who revealed this. He disclosed that these were actions suspected to be taken by the local herders who were armed. He also revealed the name of the victims and they are Tertsea Terkimbi Adagundu, Tertsea Mkposu and Mimidoo Umburga.

He shared that this incident occured in Imatom village Square close to Chembe, Ukemberagya. He revealed it happened around 9 pm on Saturday. He also shared that the corpses of the hictjms have been taken to NKST hospital morgue, in Anyiin.

In his words “All these renewed attacks and killing without any provocation are aimed at displacing the peasant farmer in order to pave the way for cattle to graze on their crops which are yet to be harvested.”
He stated that these attacks in this local government have been happening since the beginning of September 2023. He added that this attack which occured on Saturday was the 4th attack.

He revaled that the first attack happened on the 3rd of September 2023, the second on the 29th of September 2023, he third attck was one the 11th of October 2023 and then Saturday's attack. He revealed that the 3 victims were males.
He went on to call on the state and federal governments to intervene in the matter with security. The Police Public Relations Officer for Benue command, Catherine Anene was contacted and said she didn't have any information about it.
