The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said the Federal Government has failed to meet their demands as it is being sensitive to the welfare of the union.
This was discussed at a press conference at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Abia State. The union expressed their disappointment over the failure of the FG to meet their needs despite several engagements to restructure universities in the country.
The union expressed the seven months of unpaid remuneration, renegotiation of the 2009 agreement, poor funding of tertiary institutions, and other related issues. The union said despite the numerous plans of the universities to develop the educational sector, the FG keeps making empty promises.
