FRSC is a government agency that was established in 1988. They are saddled with the responsibility of making the roads safe for motorists and other road users. They educate people on road discipline and also minimize the occurrence of accidents on our roads.
The inauguration of the vehicles took place on Friday, and George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation was present.
He opined that President Ahmed Tinubu has shown his commitment to transforming the country's transport infrastructure via provision of operational vehicles to FRSC.
Akume stated that investors would not be attracted to Nigeria if there is weak road safety management to enhance the security on our roads. The present Tinubu-led administration has made it a topmost priority to cater to the needs of the FRSC so they can promptly execute their duties.
Akume further said Mr. President believes that "Transport infrastructure encourages transformative economic impact,” and the vehicles would improve the agency's efficiency.
In addition to what Akume said, FRSC Marshal, Dauda Biu, said the lack of adequate facilities has been a huge factor hindering the efficiency of the agency. He said the agency's 2023 goal is to attain a 5% decline in road traffic fatalities and traffic injuries.
He concluded by saying that the new vehicles would be deployed to boost the swiftness and efficiency of the agency.
