FRSC urges Nigerians to make use of bicycles due to fuel subsidy removal

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), have advised Nigerians to employ the use of bicycles as transport due to the removal of fuel subsidy.

Recall the subsidy was removed sometime last week after the inauguration of the new president of Nigeria.
Since then, getting fuel has been a serious issue as the prices have been hiked up

Nigerias began to complain due to these prices and some even began to walk to their places of work since transport fares have also increased.

FRSC then urged Nigerians to make use of Bicycles which doesn't require fuel to operate.

It was Mr Joshua Adekanye who is the Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC),who gave this advice. He mentioned this on Saturday in Ibadan. This was at the celebration of the 2023 World Bicycle Day.

Recall that in 2018, the United Nations (UN) had declared the 3rd of June 3 every year as World Bicycle Day.

This day is to raise awareness about the importance of Bicycles as a good and sustainable mode of transportation.

He mentioned using a Bicycle is petrol cost effective as it doesn't use fuel and using this will also reduce carbon emissions.

He also said this has its own health benefit for the public and will create a good environment for people to live in.
