Popular Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele, has broken her silence after the governorship elections. The gubernatorial elections took place on the 18th of march, 2023 where she was running for Deputy governor alongside Abdul-Azeez Olajide.
Abdul-Azeez Olajide also known as Jandor was the candidate for governor for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the Lagos state gubernatorial elections.
Funke Akindele is an actress, filmmaker and a politician.
Recall just recently, the actress took down all posts relating to politics from her page leaving just personal and movie promotion posts.
Just few hours ago, she came out to thank everyone for their support.
She took to her Instagram page to share her gratitude to everyone.
She mentioned how amazing and insightful the journey and experience had been. She deemed it as a leaning curve for her because she learned and unlearned a lot.
She also mentioned that she doesn't regret the decision she took to contest in the elections and then went ahead to thank people for believing in her.
She thanked them for supporting both online and offline.
She noted the elections may not be gone they way they wanted it to but she believes they fought a good fight.
In closing, she went ahead to encourage all who mean we'll for Lagos and Nigeria to not give up.
She said that she will continue to prioritise the good of people as she considers what next step to take in life.
